Nan Tolson is the Deputy Director of Conservatives Concerned, where she oversees the national communications strategy, manages state chapter operations, and helps lead organizational growth, partnerships, and strategic initiatives. She has also served as the founding director of Texas Conservatives Concerned About the Death Penalty since 2023.
Previously, Nan worked for Texas Governor Greg Abbott for five years where she held various roles including deputy press secretary, chief spokesperson, and communications manager. Her experience also includes time in Senator Ted Cruz’s office and on Senator Rand Paul’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Nan was a supporter of the death penalty until she heard a sermon in college on why Christians should oppose capital punishment. The sermon prompted her to take a deeper look at the death penalty system, and she realized it conflicted not only with her faith, but also with her conservative values due to the exorbitant cost, lack of effective deterrence, and propensity for error.
In 2024, Nan was named 40 Under 40 in Texas conservative politics by the Texas Federation of Republican Women. She is a life-long conservative, a graduate of Baylor University, and lives in the Dallas area.
